MOE Dairy Farm Outdoor Adventure Learning Centre

Ministry of Education (Singapore) Dairy Farm Outdoor Adventure Learning Centre (DFOALC) is located at the fringe of Bukit Timah Nature Reserve near the Dairy Farm Quarry. The centre is equipped with a full range of adventure facilities such as a High Challenge Course, Abseil Tower, and General Stations, as well as facilities such as a multi-purpose hall, one block of teacher rooms, and six blocks of student dormitories that can accommodate 240 participants comfortably. The dormitory and administrative areas of the centre are wheelchair friendly.

The adventure facilities at DFOALC underwent enhancements in 2014 when the High Challenge Course was changed into a canopy walk designed to allow participants to work individually or in teams. Other enhancements include an auto-belay system for the Outdoor Rock Climbing wall.

The centre’s ideal location offers students opportunities to learn about Singapore’s natural heritage. The 163-hectare Bukit Timah Nature reserve retains one of the largest tracts of primary rainforest in Singapore. Together with the Central Catchment area, these nature reserves are home to more than 840 flowering plants and over 500 species of animals(including butterflies). With its unique location and diversity of nature, activities are designed around the environment and place-based in nature. These include stream exploration, cement art, sensory trail, a night walk, and outdoor cooking to enrich the student’s learning and experiences. With treks varying from 45 mins to 2 hours and beyond, field trips with different learning objectives can be conducted. Students can also research on the quarries, local flora and fauna as well as the bio-system, see first-hand the huge water pipes that channel water from Malaysia to Singapore, and study the impact of human and nature on the quarry.
