Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) Announces New Leadership
Bill Zimmermann Joins ACCT as Executive Director

Longmont, Colorado, 4/1/2022. The ACCT Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Bill Zimmermann will succeed Shawn Tierney as the Executive Director of the Association for Challenge Course Technology. Bill will take over as the Executive Director on April 4, 2022.

Bill has been an educator, administrator, and association executive for the past thirty years. Prior to working at the ACCT, Bill worked for the Climbing Wall Association (CWA) as President and CEO, the Association for Experiential Education (AEE) as Director of Accreditation, the University of New Hampshire, the American Youth Foundation, and Project Adventure. Bill has significant experience in association management, standards development, credentialling, membership development, events management, and public policy and advocacy. Bill has also served as a volunteer committee member for the ACCT and the Wilderness Risk Managers Committee.

The mission of the ACCT aligns with my commitment to public service, professional development, and education. I believe the ACCT is in a good position to capitalize on a changing environment and grow. I'm looking forward to getting started and can’t wait for the next conference in Portland."

The board is excited to welcome Bill to the organization. Bill will be working closely with Shawn Tierney for the next two weeks for an orientation and to ensure a smooth leadership transition.
