ANSI/ACCT Standards Now Available in Spanish

Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) Makes Technical Standards Available to Spanish Speakers
Best Practices for Standards and Safety Now Available to Largest Growing Sector
Boulder, Colorado – September 26, 2017, The Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) is pleased to announce the publication of its ANSI/ACCT 03- 2016 Standards in Spanish.
By making the ANSI/ACCT 03-2016 Standards available in Spanish, government bodies and regulators in charge of permits for operating challenge courses, zip lines and aerial parks are now able to comply with safety standards as they grow. Travel agencies, insurance companies, and the public will now have a technical reference for the industry. This will also benefit English speaking audiences, as the majority of tourists visiting Latin America come from the US, Canada, and Europe. The end result will be a safer adventure park experience in Latin America.
Shawn Tierney, executive director of ACCT says the publication represents a milestone for the trade association. “Having our standards translated in Spanish will be a tremendous benefit for both the established and emerging challenge course, zip line and aerial adventure park industries in Latin America and elsewhere,” says Tierney. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to see this project come to fruition.”
The translated publication includes:
- Definitions of terminology
- Design, performance, and inspection standards
- Operation & training standards
- Appendices with information that includes discussion of conventional challenge course design, zip line brake systems, and essential functions of a challenge course facilitator
ACCT members Victor Gallo, Owner, Adventure Playground, Costa Rica; Jose Gonzalez, California State University, Northridge; Pavel Gaitan, Director of Operations, Cabo Adventures, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; and Luis Acevedo, CEO of Aire Libre, Inc., Puerto Rico were instrumental in assisting with the translation.
